Week of October 25 - 29

Before the weekend of Halloween festivities began, our class focused on narratives. We started out the week by reading samples. We learned that narratives involved a lot of description, which we learned about the week before. The next day we brought in a picture and had others describe it. We used what other people said to create a paragraph story. The next few days we focused on making our official narrative papers. We peer edited eachothers papers and made sure to include a thesis in our story. We finished the week off by receiving a piece of candy and looking forward to the weekend ahead.

  1. Week of 11/1 - 11/5

This week,we spent a couple days in the lab perfecting our narrative papers, using feedback from our editing partners and our own intelligent minds. We also discussed how a narrative paper should not plainly state the thesis, but rather illustrate it within the story. We also began to talk about comparing and contrasting two things, even if they may seem like they have nothing in common. We read an essay comparing and contrasting male and female interactions as well as creating our own stereotypical conversation between a guy and and a girl, involving adjectives that distinctly describe each gender. We also started thinking about what books we would like to read for our upcoming literary analysis paper. We had quite a busy week! :)
